With blood flowing from a cut above his right eye and hardly able to see powerful punches being thrown at him by Juan Manuel Marquez, Manny Pacquiao relied on a big brave heart to counterpunch through a crucial eighth round against his Mexican opponent.
The Pacquiao-Marquez rematch last light in Nevada ended in a split decision for an extraordinary Pinoy athlete . . . that somehow reminds me of the late celebrated Gabriel ‘Flash’ Elorde . . . to capture the World Boxing Council title in the 130-pound category.
One judge, Jerry Roth, called it 115-112 for Marquez but Roth must have been stricken with temporary blindness.
