An unlikely hero to like

He resigned last week as president of state-owned Philippine Forest Corp. (Philforest) . . . no doubt to pre-empt being muzzled by the Palace . . . but ever since Rodolfo Noel ‘Jun’ Lozada Jr. decided to come out in the open to speak out with an insider’s perspective on the NBN/ZTE scandal he has become some sort of a folk hero.

In two successive appearances at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, the 45-year-old electronics engineer and erstwhile personal consultant to former NEDA boss Neri has proven to be a credible witness . . . with a sense of humor to boot.despite being abducted by military types upon his return from Hong Kong. Asked by a senator how he felt a about being escorted by NAIA authorities from the airtube directly to a waiting vehicle . . . a special courtesy that is usually reserved for arriving VIPs . . . Lozada replied that he is probably the only VIP that wanted to be taken to Pasig but was brought to Laguna instead.
